This Friday, August 30, 2024, a donation ceremony to the Ahmadou MBACKE Primary School (formerly Kléber) in Dakar was held at the General Directorate of Customs. The donation consists of a batch of school materials, printers, reams of paper, and an external hard drive for data storage. The said material is a donation from the General Directorate. It falls within the framework of the Customs/Population Concept.
The ceremony was chaired by Lieutenant-Colonel Papa Amadou Gamby DIOP, technical advisor to the Director General of Customs. He had by his side Lt-Colonel, Souleymane SANÉ, Technical Assistant to the Director of Logistics and Finance, the Head of the Logistics and Maintenance Office, Lt-Colonel Yaya DIAW as well as the staff of the Division of Logistics. Communication and Public Relations.
On behalf of the Director General, Lt-Colonel Gamby DIOP recalled the main missions of Customs, but also the important work that Senegalese Customs is carrying out to assist the populations. To do this, the General Management has put in place tools and instruments whose work, in the form of CSR, directly impacts the beneficiaries. The Customs Medical-Social Center is a perfect illustration of this. In his Speech, he also provided a historical reminder of the trajectory of tax and customs institutions, their evolution and their importance in the functioning of States. He thus largely returned to the expected role of Senegalese schools in the training of citizens who are very aware of their duty, especially with regard to tax citizenship. He suggested that civic education lessons include the theme of taxation because this will allow young students to assimilate the concepts of taxes and duties among others.
